BTU (short for British Thermal Unit) is a unit of energy used to measure the heat input of a boiler. 1 BTU is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 454g of water by 0.556°C (or 1°F). Conversely, 0.02 BTUs are required to heat 1 cu ft of air by the same margin. 1 BTU is equivalent to 1055.05585 joules.
